In the devastation that followed the tragic wildfires this past August, burning through hundreds of acres on the island of Maui, two of our Clinical Laboratories of Hawaii (CLH) locations in the Lahaina area suffered overwhelming loss. Of most importance, and of what we are most thankful for, is the knowledge that all of the members of the Sonic Healthcare USA family on Maui were safe.

What cannot be shaken or destroyed is the incredible strength, resilience and compassion of the Maui community, and the unwavering dedication of first responders, emergency services and relief workers. It is in this spirit of “Kokua” (the spirit of kindness accompanied by a desire to help one another, without expecting anything in return), that I am very pleased to announced that:

Sonic Healthcare USA is donating $50,000 to each of the two non-profit organizations listed below, who are dedicated to aid in Maui’s recovery and reconstruction.

It has been with the assistance of CLH President Ally Park and her leadership team that we were able to identify Maui United Way’s Maui Fire Relief Fund and the Hawaii Community Foundation’s Maui Strong Fund as recipients of this donation, putting these resources to work for the people of Maui who have the greatest need.

The response from our CLH family to this devastating event has been nothing short of remarkable. On behalf of Sonic Healthcare USA, we are proud to support the rebuilding effort, helping to restore Maui back to paradise.
