Noel K. Maring

Mr. Noel Maring, a seasoned Healthcare executive, joined Sonic Healthcare USA in November 2012 as Vice President of Hospital Affiliations. Noel brings more than 25 years of experience building strategic partnerships, conceiving and executing innovative strategies with Hospitals and Health Systems throughout the U.S., resulting in the creation of multi-million dollar joint ventures with regional and national health systems.

Noel previously was the Senior Vice President/Chief Marketing Officer for Pathology Associates Medical Laboratories (PAML) for 17 years, where he developed and executed the growth strategy for PAML and PAML's joint ventures while acting as an officer of the company. During Noel's tenure at PAML, the company established 7 joint ventures with a total of 37 hospitals. PAML and the joint venture revenues grew from $34 million to over $300 million during this time.

Prior to PAML, Noel worked at Damon Clinical Laboratories where he was the General Manager for Damon's operations in Northern CA, as well as the Western Regional Director of Sales for Damon. Damon was an early innovator in hospital partnerships, establishing partnerships in San Francisco, Detroit, Chicago, and New York City. During Noel's tenure at Damon he helped establish and grow Damon's joint venture with Mount Zion Medical Center (now part of UCSF) in San Francisco, CA.

Francis U. Imada

Mr. Francis Imada has been the CFO of Clinical Laboratories of Hawaii, LLP ("CLH") since 1995. CLH has provided clinical and anatomic pathology services to hospitals for over 30 years. Today, CLH is the contracted lab for twelve hospitals with a significant outreach market, which provides services to physicians and patients throughout the Hawaiian Islands. Francis has developed a wealth of knowledge working with hospitals and health systems on laboratory projects. As CFO, Francis is involved in strategic planning, developing, operating business and financial plans for CLH & its 11 current hospital laboratory agreements, and negotiating hospital and payer contracts. Prior to being acquired by Sonic Healthcare USA , CLH was the managing partner in a joint venture with three hospital systems in Hawaii. The Hawaii joint venture operated from 1995 to 2008, the year in which Sonic Healthcare USA acquired CLH. In 1997 CLH formed a joint venture with the St. Anthony and PorterCare hospital systems in Denver, Colorado. Francis was a key member of the management team that structured the joint venture, negotiated lab service agreements with the hospitals and set governance provisions for the joint venture. The Denver business was sold in 2001. CLH also had operations in Guam, Saipan and Singapore providing Francis exposure in the international business arena. This experience has provided Francis with a deep understanding and working knowledge of the financial and operational issues hospitals and hospital joint ventures face. Prior to joining CLH and PPPL Francis was a tax partner in the international accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche specializing in hospitals, nonprofits and private companies.   Francis_Imada_Web

 

Mary Frost

Ms. Frost has over 25 years of experience in laboratories and administrative duties in the healthcare field. She started her career in healthcare by earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from the University of North Dakota and continued her education with obtaining a Master's in Business Administration from Baylor University.

In her current role as Senior Vice President, Quality and Laboratory Services, Mary oversees quality for all the federated laboratories including preparation of quarterly Balanced Scorecard reports and promoting a culture of continuous readiness for accreditation inspections working with the laboratories to identify best practices, etc.; she is also member of the Corporate Compliance Committee. Mary also serves as the liaison between the executive team, corporate Information Technology and the federated laboratories. In addition, she is the Project Manager for a variety of corporative initiatives.

Prior to joining the Sonic Healthcare team, Mary worked in key positions at St. David's Medical Center in Austin including Director of Laboratory Services, Respiratory Therapy, Non-Invasive Cardiology, Hyperbaric Medicine, and Administrative Director. She served as the Joint Commission Coordinator and actively participated in Joint Commission, Corporate Quality Review Surveys and other regulatory surveys and investigations that included education of Board Members, executives, management team and staff. During her time at St. David's, Mary actively participated in and chaired a variety of committees, such as the Facility Ethics and Compliance Committee, Health Information Management task force, Customer Service, Leadership Development, and Operations Council. She successfully led her team through multiple CAP inspections, LIS conversions, lab renovations, and other hospital related projects. In addition, Ms. Frost also served as the project manager for the implementation of eMAR (electronic Medication Administration Record) for the hospital system.

David L. Smalley

Dr. David L. Smalley has joined the Sonic Healthcare USA executive team as the President, American Esoteric Laboratories in Memphis, TN. In his current role, he heads the Mid-South Division of Sonic Healthcare USA with nearly 800 employees, and covers six states including Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, and Kentucky. He was a faculty member at the University of Tennessee for over 26 years where he was promoted through the ranks of academia to full Professor in 1998. He has served as the State Public Health Laboratory Director at the Tennessee Department of Health in Nashville since 2006. He holds a Bachelors degree in Medical Technology, a Masters degree in Microbiology/Immunology, a Master of Strategic Studies degree from the Army War College, a Masters degree in Healthcare Administration and a Doctorate in Microbiology/Immunology. Dr. Smalley recently retired from the U.S. Army Reserve after 30 years of service including serving at the rank of Brigadier General.   David_Smalley_Rev

 

Paul Miller
